One of the biggest selling points for me is that Guitar Tricks does not support the iPad while Jamplay does. I like not having to be tied to a computer. However both sites are excellent and each have their merits. It's all about preferences.

I meant to say, "worth noting" not "worth nothing." It can be a pain to type in this darn iPad. Sorry.

While a yearly subscription might not be for everyone it is worth nothing that at the annual rates Guitar Tricks is only $10.75 per month and JamPlay is only about $11.66 per month - hardly a difference. When you consider that a year at either place is less than what one might pay for a month of private lessons, it is really not a bad deal.

So, if you can go with a yearly subscription, that really takes the cost out of the decision. At that point you can just focus on how you like the teachers, the technology used, the site style, etc. Hope that helps provide some perspective for someone.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the honest review of JamPlay. I've been a member of JamPlay.com for months now, and I can say to anyone reading this that the review above is an honest take on the membership.

I also wanted to point out that the price difference from Guitar Tricks is lower now that they increased their price from $12.95 to $14.95.

Take Chris' advice and give it a shot. You'll be glad you did.
